Bio: Diana is a CrossFitter, distance runner, and all around adrenaline junkie. As a kid, Diana played little league baseball, softball, track and cross-country. In college, Diana became a distance runner and was an assistant coach for the Pepperdine Marathon Team. Diana has completed 10 marathons, including two Boston marathons.
Diana started CrossFitting in 2009 after a coworker of hers harassed her over the course of a few months to join a gym. CrossFit was appealing at the time because it enabled her to stay in shape without having to invest the kind of time that marathon training demanded. CrossFit became an obsession in June of 2012 after she randomly entered into a competition and won second place in her age group, much to her surprise. In September, her coach, Leo Jenkins, convinced her to start training harder and in those four short months, she has put on 20-25lbs and increased her major lifts by 30-40%. Now, ironically, she invests three to four hours in the gym each day working out, which is way more time than was ever spent training for a silly marathon.
CrossFit has been an incredible outlet for her, providing new challenges every day, stress relief, total physical exhaustion, an incredible community and an activity that allows her to talk a lot of smack and call out the boys. She hopes to inspire girls to stop paying so much attention to the scale, not be afraid to build muscle and be all around tough badasses at the gym.
When not obsessing over CrossFit, Diana works as a corporate attorney in Denver, CO. She enjoys skipping, laughing and being super dorky.
